From Pastor Andrew’s Desk

Greetings FCCB’ers!

As we are all winding down from the summer and gearing up the the fall, I’m always surprised at how quickly the time goes. I think I’ve got a handle on things, that I have enough time to get prepared for the coming school year and new season of work, but I rarely do! I’ve been praying that this transition for all of us would be one filled with God’s peace.

As we’ve been working through Joshua, we have encountered highs and lows in Israel’s walk with God. We’ve seen
victories
destruction
strong faith and
doubting hearts,
all while Joshua has been leading God’s people.
A few weeks ago, Pastor Andrew mentioned that in the beginning of chapter 8, God says to Joshua, “Do not be afraid”. We see that phrase again in Chapter 11, where again God says to Joshua,
Do not be afraid of them“.
In this instance, Joshua and all Israel are about to enter into conflict with multiple kings in Northern Canaan who have banded together to oppose them. Scripture tells us their numbers were like
sand that is on the seashore” (11:4).
And yet, as it is revealed to us, the Lord gave over the opposing armies to Israel, and Joshua left
nothing undone of all that the Lord had commanded Moses” (v.15).
As we continue into this transitioning season, out of summer and into the school year, with new projects at work and/or in the home, it’s easy to look at all we have to do and feel “fear”. This “fear” may look like anxiety and worry. But God’s message to us stays the same. When our worries about life seem so numerous like sand on the seashore, we need not fear or panic. The Lord our God is with us, and will give to us everything we need to follow Him.
I look forward to sharing further from God’s word this Sunday!
